The California fire survivors I met working on this story were homeowners and renters, both longtime and recent, from Altadena and Pacific Palisades. They all thought they would have a home to return to when they took the few belongings they could and ran for their lives on Tuesday, January 7. This was one the hardest and yet most meaningful stories I’ve ever had the privilege of working on.
